'Solar India 2007', India's premier conference on solar energy
Organised by WISE, it was decided to constitute a Working Group to deliberate on policy
issues concerning development of the solar industry in the country so as to be on par with global
development, and also to avail the full potential of solar energy in the country. In line with this objective and to draw up a solar energy roadmap for India, WISE held a conclave of CEOs
from the solar sector recently.
Present at the conclave were V Subramanian, Secretary, Ministry of New and
Renewable Energy (MNRE), Govt. of India, who effectively guided the
brainstorming session for developing a structured work plan. Also present at the
conclave were Ajai Vikram Singh, Former Secretary, Ministries of New and
Renewable Energy and Defence, Govt. of India; and G M Pillai, DG, WISE.
The group dealt at length with the course of action required to be taken on the proposed
'Policy Roadmap for Solar Energy Development in India', which was unveiled at
‘Solar India 2007’, and arrived at an immediate action plan. The group also
constituted a Working Group with Ajai Vikram Singh as the Chairman and P
Jayakumar, Director, Arbutus Computers & Consultants P Ltd., Pune, as the
Member Secretary.
